The Whyz Guy
The
Whyz Guy is a book of rhymes that depict a young boy who has many questions about
a multitude of things. Some of the
questions he asks are hilarious, and some may gross you out; that is if you
happen to be a parent, or have a bit of a fluttery tummy.
The Whyz Guy touches on personal hygiene,
snoring, hairy bodies, noses, smells, the moon, bikes, tattletales, farts,
dogs, and many more subjects this young boy inquires about. The author Chris
Cianciulli has drawn from his own childhood and expressed his view of a child
in wonderment.
He has woven into his
book of rhymes, comedy and real life dilemmas. The Whyz Guy possesses an
illustration to depict each rhyming subject.
The illustrations are bright and colorful, and will draw the attention
of young and middle age children. I feel
this book is probably favored more with the boys than the girls, but that’s not
to say girls would not find a few chuckles in the content of these pages.
Because Chris Cianciulli has directed his
book to entertain and educate children with his rhymes and attractive
illustrations, I give this book four stars **** for whimsical content and fun
for boys.

Sounds like a terrific book that will get boys reading - just what we need. But where can we buy it? There are no links to the author, publisher or Amazon??
ReplyDeleteI want to add it to my Pinterest REVIEW board.
Books for Kids - Manuscript Critiques

Hi Margot. It's an e-book on Amazon. I just can't get the link to work in order to purchase it. According to other reviewers, this is a good book for boys. It's the first book of it's kind that I have reviewed,(kind of gross in places) so my opinions actually rely mostly on what other reviewers expressed to me about the book being; something little boys will enjoy. Thanks for your support. I know Chris will appreciate it.
DeleteIt sounds cute and a good way to get boys reading.
ReplyDeleteThanks Janet. I appreciate your support. This is and e-book on Amazon. I finally got the link to work above. Getting the picture on here was a challenge, but all is well now.
DeleteHi Susan, Great review! To me it is more of a boy's book, but I'm sure some girls will enjoy being "grossed out" as well. I saw it as a kindle book on Amazon and the author said he wrote it during the power outage after Hurricane Sandy -- questions a kid would ask his parents.
ReplyDeleteYes he did write it during the outage. I hope they like being grossed out, because I was LOL! Chris said one of his best reviews came from a little girl who thought the book was gross, but nevertheless, she still loved it. It's funny what tickles kids. :)
DeleteI love the title: The WHYZ GUY. SO clever. You have peaked my interest by the gross questions and the personal hygiene theme. . .:) I am amazed at the differences between boys and girls. I have to remind my 12-year-old stepson to use shampoo and soap when he takes a shower. . .:) LOL
ReplyDeleteYes they do look at some things quite differently Margo. I raised a boy and a girl, but neither one of them asked many of the questions stated in these pages. Children are diverse in their interests and wonderment s. I guess a 12 year old boy is too busy thinking about other things to concern himself with soap, let alone shampoo. While girls are deciding what kind of soap/shampoo they will use next.LOL. Thanks so much for stopping by and lending your support.
